Audiences in Scotland will be the first in the UK to hear a brand new work by Scottish Opera’s composer in residence Gareth Williams as Opera Highlights hits the road. Scottish Opera’s inaugural composer in residence has revised Dance ‘til the Sun Sets especially for the annual 15 date whistle-stop tour. It will feature alongside arias, duets and ensembles from the likes of Verdi’s La traviata, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and Bizet’s Carmen, as well as less well-known gems by Smetana, Ambroise Thomas, Rimsky-Korsakov and Emmerich Kalman. A cast of four talented young singers and a pianist will bring the eclectic programme to life in venues from Jedburgh to Mull, Arran to Lochinver, Glenrothes to Livingston, Largs to Musselburgh and back again. A welcome winter warmer for audiences of all ages, Opera Highlights offers something for everyone, from seasoned fans to opera first-timers.
